Classic 3D remake of THE MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM, with plenty of mood, atmosphere and thrills! Vincent Price portrays brilliant but insane sculptor Henry Jarrod, whose life's work (a wax museum filled with beautiful historical tableaux) is destroyed in a fire ignited by his unscrupulous business partner, Matthew Burke (Roy Roberts)! No longer able to sculpt, Jarrod steals the corpses of his murdered victims, coats them in wax, and, concealing his hideously disfigured face behind a wax mask, displays them in the "Chamber of Horrors" of his new museum, The House of Wax! Sue Allen (Phyllis Kirk), suspects the truth when she sees the wax-coated body of her murdered friend (Carolyn Jones) at the museum, depicting Joan of Arc! Little does she suspect that Jarrod intends to transform her into a waxen Marie Antoinette! Price's sinister, understated performance firmly established his prominence in the horror genre! The actor' s real-life expertise as an art collector was an unquestionable asset to his characterization! Jarrod's mute-brute accomplice, Igor, is played by Charles Buchinski (Bronson). DeToth directs with style and a fluent command of 3D technology, despite having only one eye, and thus unable to actually see the three-dimensional effect! David Buttolph composed the chilling, powerful score! The obligatory 3D gimmicks aren' t too obtrusive, but are a lot more fun in 3D!
